In marking the passing of time, these hourly drawings explore the emotional and mental impact the passing of time has on the individual, especially when their visual, physical and cognitive capacity deteriorates over time. What is the concept of time for people who do not have different activities to engage in at different times of the day, when every hour feels exactly the same?

The white tile drawings are ‘invisible’. The issues they try to expose are hidden. The colour is institutional and clinical white.

‘I wanted to draw the consciousness of existing and the flow of time. As you might take your pulse.’

Henri Michaux, Drawing the Flow of Time, 1957
